The city of Ann Arbor just dropped a $500,000 pool for the Ann Arbor Michigan EV incentive, and it is already disappearing fast.
This local program runs through September 2026 and pays between $4,000 and $7,500 depending on income and vehicle type. Low-income buyers and Michigan business EV incentive applicants can receive the full $7,500. Regular residents qualify for up to $5,000 on a new EV or $4,000 on a used model under the Ann Arbor new used EV discount. The Ann Arbor EV rebate 2026 is open now, but with only half a million dollars allocated the money will vanish quickly.
How the numbers break down
- Michigan low income EV incentive: up to $7,500
- Michigan business EV incentive: up to $7,500
- Standard new EV: up to $5,000
- Used EV: up to $4,000
The program started May 1 and by late May applications were already flooding in. Similar city-level rebates in other states, like the one covered in our New Jersey ZIP program post, have disappeared in weeks once the pot is small.
What this means for Tesla owners
If you live in Ann Arbor or qualify through a business address, this is free money toward a new Model Y or Model 3. The federal credit is gone, so every local dollar counts. Act fast—$500,000 does not stretch far when each award averages $5,000.
Once the car is in the driveway, the next priority is protecting it. My top recommendation remains all-weather floor mats. I tested three tiers and the 3W set is still the winner for fit and durability.

For phone mounts and the missing center console, Jowua pieces are the ones I run on every Tesla in the fleet.

Bottom line
The Ann Arbor Michigan EV incentive is real, but the window is tiny. If you qualify, apply today. The $7,500 (or $5,000) will make any new or used Tesla purchase a lot more attractive before the fund is exhausted.
