Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're a Cybertruck owner, especially with an early Foundation Series model, pay close attention. There's a silent recall happening right now for the PCS (Power Conversion System) units. Tesla isn't making a big noise about it – no official NHTSA involvement – but they're proactively replacing these parts under warranty when you bring your truck in for service.
Cybertruck enthusiast 'Cybertruck Guy' sounded the alarm, and it's spot on. If your Cybertruck is only charging at 24-48 amps at home (instead of the full 48 amps or more), your PCS has likely partially failed. Don't wait – make a service appointment ASAP.
We're not even charging our Cybertruck at home anymore (15,000 miles on it) just to test if we're hitting that low amp range. Better safe than stranded.
Replacements are handled under warranty. Out-of-warranty? It might fall under goodwill, but with PCS failures happening at scale, Tesla's stepping up. They'll add it to your next service appointment automatically.
There's also chatter about a related 2024 inverter recall (Part 573 safety report). If you've had issues before, double-check.
PSA for all Cybertruck owners: Head to the service center if you're seeing these symptoms. Getting stuck on the road? Very annoying – knock on wood it doesn't happen to you!
Not all Cybertruck news is recalls! USA Today just raved about it:
"The Cybertruck met or exceeded its range expectations. I didn’t get into how much fun it is to drive a Cybertruck on the road, especially with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) enabled for most of the drive. But I had a blast."
People are stopping to check out wrapped Cybertrucks at chargers, and the onboard cameras catch it all. Yeah, it's polarizing, but once you drive one, you get it. Model Y vs. Cybertruck? If you can handle the price jump, Cybertruck all the way. It's that cool and capable.
