First Tesla Cybertruck Service: Fixing Delivery Issues and More
Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've been following my journey with the Tesla Cybertruck, you know it's been an exciting ride. In my latest video, I took our Cybertruck in for its first service appointment to address a bunch of delivery issues that popped up right from the start. It's been about a month and a half since we got it, and yeah, I admit—I kept pushing back the appointment. But Tesla service is usually booked 2-3 weeks out anyway. Today, I'm breaking down the whole experience in this blog post, from the initial walkaround of problems to the fixes and my final thoughts. Let's dive in!
The Laundry List of Issues: Pre-Service Walkaround
Our Cybertruck has been mostly solid, but like any new vehicle—especially one as unique as this—there were some kinks to iron out under the new car warranty. I did a quick walkaround in the video to show everything. Here's the rundown:
- Windshield Wiper Issues: The wiper wasn't cleaning the middle properly, leaving streaks. I suspect it sat on the lot for nearly a year, degrading the rubber blade.
- Frunk Misalignment: The front trunk (frunk) was a bit off-kilter. It's a common Cybertruck quirk, but I wanted it checked.
- Bed Stains and Dirt: The truck bed had water stains all over. Not a huge deal since it's a truck, but it needed a good clean.
- Tonneau Cover Problems: There was a massive gap where water could seep in, and the rubber seal was warped and hanging low. It even interfered with closing the cover properly at times.
- Scratch on Rear Trim: A small scratch from delivery on the back left trim. Again, trucks get beat up, but why not fix it while we're at it?
- Wireless Charger Overheating: A common issue— it was making phones too hot.
- Weak AC Performance: The air conditioning felt underwhelming compared to my previous Cybertruck, especially on hot road trips. There was even a leak error once, which had me worried.
These weren't deal-breakers, but I wanted them sorted to keep the truck in top shape. Off to Tesla service we went!
Dropping Off at Tesla Service
We dropped it off on a Tuesday morning around 8-9 AM. Tesla hooked us up with a Model X as a loaner, which was nice for getting around. I was curious how long it'd take— with parts needing to be ordered, I figured it might be a while. Spoiler: It took a little over a week, but the process was smooth via the Tesla app. I have a lot of trust in their service team; they've always come through.
Pickup Day: What Got Fixed?
Fast forward to Wednesday at 2 PM— a week later— and we're picking up the Cybertruck. It felt amazing to be back behind the wheel! They tackled a long list of items, and overall, I'm impressed. Let's go through each fix:
- Wireless Charger: Replaced with what looks like a Gen 5 version. They did a voltage check too. Fingers crossed on no more overheating— I'll test it on upcoming road trips.
- Tailgate Fix: The right side was loose from delivery. They tightened it up— we forgot to check it immediately, but it feels solid now.
- Bed Cleaning: They gave it a good scrub to remove those stains. It's not perfect, but hey, it's a truck bed. I'll be hauling Home Depot runs soon anyway!
- Windshield Wiper: Top priority for me— they replaced the blade, and now it wipes cleanly without streaks. Perfect!
- Tonneau Cover Gap: Fixed the big gap by adding a slat, bushing, and bolt. No more water worries.
- Rear Trim Scratch: Removed the scratched piece, replaced it with a brand-new one. Looks pristine.
- AC Check: They inspected it, but I'm still monitoring. It might just be my expectations— we'll see on more drives.
- Warped Rubber Seal: Replaced the hanging rubber on the tonneau. It's straight and secure now— no more interference with closing.
- Frunk Adjustment: They tweaked it for better alignment on both sides. It's more even, which is a nice touch.
Oh, and shoutout to the Unplugged Performance Cyberspoke wheels I added— the bronze and green combo looks killer. (Check the link below if you're interested!)
The truck was filthy from sitting outside for a week, so next up, we're heading to my friend Andre at 24K Shine for some special detailing to make it shine even more.
Final Thoughts: Tesla Service Rocks
All in all, Tesla Service did a phenomenal job. The team crushed it, and the app made everything effortless— no complaints here. It was tough being without the truck for a week, but totally worth it for these fixes. If you're a Cybertruck owner dealing with similar issues, don't hesitate to book that service appointment.
