10,000-Mile Tesla Cybertruck Review: Efficiency, Mods, and Honest Buying Advice
I've owned this Tesla Cybertruck since June—about five to six months—and we've already racked up over 11,000 miles. This is my second Cybertruck, and it's been a game-changer compared to the first one, which Tesla bought back. In this review, I'll share everything we've done to it, real-world efficiency numbers, what I love (and what needs work), and my top advice if you're thinking about buying one right now.
My Cybertruck Journey: From Buyback to Beast Mode
The first Cybertruck had some early issues, but this one? Flawless so far (knock on wood). All new Teslas have minor delivery hiccups, but nothing major here. It's one of the last Foundation Series models, loaded with Full Self-Driving and lifetime free supercharging—a huge perk for a power-hungry truck like this.
I plan to drive it to 100,000 miles, maybe even 150,000 to match the battery warranty. Why? Free supercharging makes long-term ownership a no-brainer.
Mods That Make It Mine
We've tricked it out with premium upgrades for style, protection, and function:
- Wrap: Flex Shield 'Shockwave' green by Unplug Performance—looks killer and protects the stainless steel.
- Wheels: Cyber Novas from Unplug Performance (we've run stock 24-inchers too).
- Accessories: Side rockers, Molly panels, light bar, and roof rack—all from Unplug.
- Protection: Tints by OC Tint Solutions and Geon ceramic coating by 24K Shine (perfect on the wrap).
Quick walkaround vibe: It's aggressive, comfortable, and ready for anything. Not sure what to add next—it's pretty dialed in!

Efficiency Reality Check: It's Thirsty!
Efficiency is in the Trip section of the screen. Lifetime stats after 11,000 miles:
- Total energy used: 5,700 kWh
- Average: 513 Wh/mi
For context:
- Model Y: Under 300 Wh/mi
- Model 3: Even better
This Cybertruck is nearly 2x thirstier. Real-world range? 240-280 miles on stock tires/wheels if you're efficient. Accelerate hard or add mods? Kiss range goodbye.
It needs a 'break-in' period—hoping numbers improve. You'll live at Superchargers or your home charger. Pro tip: Hit uncrowded V4 stations like this 325 kW one with 60 stalls—fast and consistent.
What I Love (and What Sucks)
Pros:
- Super comfortable to drive.
- Truck utility: Bed hauls Christmas trees, Home Depot runs, and more. Functional and easy.
- Size feels right—not too big, super usable.
Cons:
- Seat squeak: Heading to service soon.
- Bed not waterproof: DIY liner needed.
- Potential motor issues: Seen in Foundation Series around 11-20k miles.
Overall? Phenomenal daily driver.
Buying Advice: Would I Do It Again?
Yes, but smartly.
- Buy new: Full warranty and lemon law protection (state-dependent; first owners get priority).
- Hunt discounts: Aim for ~$10k off.
- Prioritize free supercharging: Essential for long-term due to efficiency.
Used ones transfer warranty, but skip the risks. Wait for deals if you're in it for the miles.
Final Thoughts
The Cybertruck is a comfy, capable beast—if you embrace its thirst. Free supercharging seals the deal for me. What do you think? Buying one? Drop your thoughts below!
