Tesla Extends FSD Transfer Promotion: Order by March 31st, 2026 – Here's What You Need to Know
Tesla has just updated its free Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer policy, extending the deadline for placing orders to March 31st, 2026. Many thought this perk was disappearing for good, but it's hanging on a bit longer. If I had to guess, there's maybe a 20-30% chance it comes back after this – Tesla loves pulling demand levers when sales need a boost!
Key Changes to the FSD Transfer Policy
Here's the breakdown of the updated rules:
- Order Deadline: Place your new Tesla order by March 31st, 2026 to qualify for the transfer. This gives you more flexibility to transfer FSD from your old Tesla before taking delivery.
- Lux Package Exclusion: FSD from the Lux Package cannot be transferred. (A bit frustrating if your vehicle was totaled in an accident – insurance might cover it, but it's still a pain.)
- What Happens After Transfer? Once transferred, FSD stays with the new vehicle. If you sell it to a third party, the new owner keeps FSD – no magic disappearance! (Pro tip: Selling to Tesla privately might strip it, but private sales keep it intact.)
This clarity is huge, as many owners get confused about FSD transfers during sales.
Is This Pushing You to Upgrade?
With Model S and Model X production winding down in about 4 months, now's the time if you're eyeing a trade-in. Got FSD on an older Tesla? This could be your chance to move it to a shiny new Model Y or other model.
Quick Trade-In Tip: Before upgrading, check out Plug (link in description). Viewers have scored $3,000-$5,000 more than Tesla's trade-in offers. Don't leave money on the table!
Last Chance to Add FSD to Your Order
Only 7 days left (as of this video) to add FSD separately and lock it in at $8,000.
- Place your order with a $250 deposit and use a Tesla referral code (mine's below) for up to $1,000 off.
- Pro Move: Add FSD now – you can remove it later. After the 14th, you might not be able to add it back!
