Tesla full self-driving transfer just returned in Europe for vehicles ordered on or after July 18, 2025.
The Full Self-Driving tracker confirmed the shift. Tesla now calls the capability Tesla Assisted Driving Basic (TAD), and owners in participating European countries can move it to a new Tesla before delivery. The vehicle must be fully owned, and Tesla needs advance notice.
Why Europe got it first
This marks a clear Europe Tesla FSD policy change. The move lets buyers keep their investment when upgrading. In contrast, the US still lacks any official FSD transfer new Tesla program. I suspect inventory levels explain the difference—Tesla has little incentive to offer transfers while stock moves quickly.
What this means for owners
For anyone holding FSD, the Tesla FSD value increase is real. Data from Plug Motors shows cars with the license sell for $3,000 to $6,000 more. If you want an instant offer, check Plug Motors — get an instant offer to sell your Tesla or EV. In Los Angeles they can even complete same-day purchases.
The policy also highlights how FSD adds lasting worth. Owners trading up can preserve that value instead of starting over.
My take on the US timeline
I expect the same option to reach the US by Q1 or Q2 next year once inventory builds. Hardware 3 owners especially need this clarity after Tesla's earlier promises of no disadvantage.

Bottom line: Europe Tesla FSD policy now rewards owners who keep the license. The rest of us are still waiting, but the data proves the feature boosts resale value today.
