Tesla Insurance Costs: Insights from 50 Owners and Tips to Save
Hey everyone, Dennis here from DennisCW! If you're a Tesla owner or soon-to-be one, you know that insurance can be a big chunk of your monthly expenses. In my latest video, I dove deep into data from 50 Tesla owners to uncover the real costs of insuring these electric beasts. We broke it down by model, age, company, and state to help you find the best deals. Plus, I covered some hot Tesla news, deals, and tips. Let's break it all down!
The Tesla Insurance Survey: Key Findings
I asked 50 Tesla owners to share their insurance details, and the results are eye-opening. (If you want to add your data or check the full sheet, click here – it's a community resource to help everyone save!)
By Model
- Model Y: The cheapest to insure at an average of $188/month.
- Cybertruck: $194/month.
- Model 3: $196/month.
- Model X: $197/month.
- Model S: $200/month.
The Model Y takes the crown for affordability – no surprise, given its popularity!
By Age Group
- Ages 45-54: Lowest at $172/month.
- Ages 55+: Slightly higher at $173/month.
- Under 25: Way up there – expect to pay a premium due to higher risk.
Younger drivers, hang in there; rates drop as you age (and gain experience).
By Insurance Company
- Cheapest: Dairyland ($117/month) and Geico ($158/month).
- Mid-Tier: Costco, Tesla Insurance, State Farm.
- Most Expensive: Progressive, AAA, and surprisingly, Tesla Insurance in some cases.
One viewer switched from Tesla Insurance to American Family/Costco Connect and saved $4,826 annually on multiple vehicles – proof that shopping around pays off!
If you're about to buy or already own a Tesla, use this data to compare quotes. Don't forget to bundle with home or renters insurance for extra discounts (shoutout to USAA for treating owners well).
