Tesla Model Y Incentives Incoming: What to Expect in May and Best Deals Right Now
Hey everyone, DennisCW here! As we wrap up April and head into May, the Tesla incentive game is heating up—especially for the popular Model Y. Sales have been a bit soft lately, with a 24% year-over-year drop in California (Tesla's biggest market) for Q1. But let's put that in perspective: overall EV sales in California dropped 40%. Even with rising gas prices, folks aren't rushing to EVs just yet. That means more incentives are coming to sweeten the deal.
Current Tesla Deals You Can Snag Today
Right now, things are a little dry for Model Y, but Model 3 is loaded:
- 0.99% APR
- Payments as low as $299/month
- 1 year of free Supercharging
Model Y has 0% APR options too, but not as aggressive. Cybertruck? Slim pickings due to low inventory. Model S and X are basically MIA on deals.
Pro tip: Use my Tesla referral link before ordering to score up to 3 months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) on your new Tesla. Click it first, then head to Tesla's order page—easy!
My Prediction: Model Y Gets Major Love in May
Inventory for Model Y is low (check that mustard line on the charts—way below Model 3), which explains the lighter deals. But I expect a ramp-up as early as May 1st (this Friday!). Here's what I'm betting on:
- Payments as low as $399/month (they've done it before)
- 3-6 months free Supercharging (maybe even 1 year to match Model 3)
- FSD discounts for HW3 owners—Elon promised it, hopefully $3K-$8K off
If you're eyeing a Model Y, hold tight for next month. Model 3 buyers? Buy now—you won't get much better than 0.99% or $299/mo without waiting (and that could cost you $1K-$2K in lost savings).
Smart Timing: Wait for End-of-Quarter Fireworks
My advice hasn't changed: If you don't need a car right now, wait. Deals explode at quarter-ends:
- Q2 ends June
- Q3 ends September
- Q4 ends December (historically the best)
Cybertruck? Inventory's the bottleneck. Once it builds, expect 3.99% APR and promos to upsell from $59K/$69K to the $80K AWD.
