Prepping My Tesla Model Y Performance for Tesla Corsa: Essential Brake Upgrades
Hey everyone, DennisCW here! In just one week, I'm heading to Tesla Corsa to unleash my Model Y Performance on the track. If you're new to this, you can absolutely take your stock Tesla Model Y out there and have a blast—especially for your first time. We've done it once already, and it was an absolute thrill. But to really level up and handle multiple sessions (think 3-5 tracks with 4-5 laps each), some key upgrades make all the difference.
Why Upgrade for the Track?
Stock Model Ys are fun for a few laps, but brakes and fluids heat up fast under track conditions. After one session, you're often cooling down or charging for an hour. With upgrades, your car can go all day without fading. I'm taking a friend along with his Model Y Performance too, so we're both gearing up.
These mods are perfect if you're a daily driver wanting that extra edge on the street and track.
Road Trip to Unplugged Performance
We drove straight to Unplugged Performance (shoutout to them—link below!). Crazy bonus: SpaceX is right next door. Cybertrucks everywhere—three parked nearby, plus one in a satin Quicksilver wrap with UPRs. Epic Tesla neighborhood!
They had two Model Y Performances ready: ours and theirs.
The Upgrades: Brakes, Lines, and Fluid
Here's what we did in a quick behind-the-scenes session:
- Brake Pads (Front & Rear): High-performance pads for better heat resistance and stopping power.
- Stainless Steel Brake Lines: Replaced stock rubber lines to prevent expansion and overheating.
- Brake Fluid Flush: Stock fluid boils too quickly on track. Fresh, high-temp fluid keeps pedals firm.
They lifted the car, swapped everything out seamlessly. Stock lines came off, stainless steel went on—boom.

Street vs. Track: What to Expect
On regular roads? You'll barely notice a difference—pedal feel might be slightly firmer. But on track? Game-changer. No more brake fade after a few laps. Our Model Y is now track-ready for full-day sessions.
Advice for Track Newbies
- Go stock first: Do 3 laps per session, cool/charge, repeat. Tons of fun!
- Upgrade after: If you love it, hit Unplugged for these mods.
Don't skip the track day without them if you're serious, but beginners—dive in stock and upgrade later for max fun.
