Tesla Model Y Performance Update: Delivery on the Horizon, Financing Tips, and My Top Mods
Hey everyone, DennisCW here with a quick but exciting update on our new Tesla Model Y Performance. If you've been following my live streams, you know we placed our order on the very last day—September 30th—to snag that $7,500 federal tax credit. A lot of you did the same, so we're all in this together!
Current Delivery Status
As of November 25th, things are looking promising. Our Model Y is in transit to California (and might even have arrived by now). The estimated delivery window is December 4th through December 14th. I've been obsessively checking forums, Facebook groups, and tracking other owners—no one has picked up their Model Y Performance yet. The earliest seems to be this Thanksgiving week, but it's still up in the air. Fingers crossed we're on track!
Financing Hack (That Might Work for You)
I was torn between outside financing and Tesla's option, so I initially selected cash to avoid pre-delivery hassles. Pro tip: You can switch to financing right at the end if you have good credit (which I do, no worries there). This week, I made the switch and got an initial offer of 5.04% through Santander. I'm pushing back for a better rate—aiming for 3.99% or even 1.99-2.99% like some folks on the forums. Stay tuned to see if they bite!
Post-Delivery Mods: My Game Plan
Once it's here, the upgrades begin immediately:
-
Window Tinting: Heading straight to OC Tint Solutions in the Santa Ana/Costa Mesa area. Jason is the best— he's handled all my previous Teslas. Going with ceramic tints: 15% on the sides, 50% on the rear windows, plus windshield.
-
Paint Protection & Coating: Next stop is 24K Shine with Andre (another Tesla pro). Paint correction + ceramic coating is a must. Still deciding on PPF (Paint Protection Film): clear, stealth, or matte?
-
Accessories: Day one install includes my Jowua gear (more on them below).
Daily Driving Dilemma & Track Dreams
I've been daily-driving my Cybertruck for 10,000 miles now, so switching back to a Model Y will be fun. Daily choice: free Supercharging Cybertruck or home-charging Model Y? Plus, I can't wait to hit the track with Tesla Corsa—they have all the support I need for peace of mind.
Must-Have Accessories from Jowua
Now that you've bought your Tesla (or are about to), did you know it comes with zero accessories? Not even a phone mount! That's where our partner Jowua comes in. Here are my must-haves:
- Phone mount: Keeps your phone secure during those 0-60 blasts.
- Center console organizer: No more losing keys or snacks.
- Invisible underscreen station mount: Perfect for sunglasses.
Jowua has more: wireless game controller, portable air compressor, even an electric scooter for Supercharger walks. Use my promo code (link in description/comments) for savings + free shipping on orders over $120. I use their stuff daily—check them out here.
