Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've been following the latest in Tesla's Robotaxi beta, you won't believe this story. A rider managed to keep a Tesla Robotaxi going for a full 2.5 hours straight by pulling off a clever (and kinda cheeky) trick: repeatedly changing the destination in the app. It's hilarious to watch, but also raises some real questions about how these autonomous rides will handle edge cases.
Check out this video that's making the rounds – the guy shares his 'Robotaxi review' and shows exactly how he extended the ride over and over. It's funny at first, looping around the city like it's no big deal. But here's where it gets interesting (and a bit concerning): in the second half, Tesla's control center calls him up and urges him to stop!
Why? Well, think about it – after nearly 3 hours of non-stop driving, that battery is going to drain. What happens if it goes dead? Does the Robotaxi strand itself (and potentially the passenger)? It's a beta test pushed to the limit, and it highlights some real-world challenges.
