Good morning, Tesla fans! If you're into high-performance electric vehicles, you're in for a treat. I woke up at 5:00 AM, grabbed a quick shower, and hit the road by 5:24 AM heading to Button Willow Racetrack for an epic Tesla Corsa track day organized with Unplugged Performance. Fully charged to 100% the night before, my Model Y Performance was ready for the 2-hour, 10-minute journey. We arrived with about 40-47% battery—perfect timing to plug straight into the on-site Supercharger.
Charging to 100% before any road trip is non-negotiable—you never know what might come up. The drive was smooth, and pulling up to the track with a ton of other Tesla owners was electric (pun intended). It's not just a Tesla event in the pits, but when you hit the track, it's Teslas only.
We checked in for the mandatory 8:20 AM drivers' meeting. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups mean there's something for everyone—no pressure, just pure fun in a safe environment to discover what your Tesla can really do.
Plenty of Teslas ready to roll.
Tesla Corsa hooks you up with a car number and even helmet rentals—super convenient since I didn't bring mine. We slapped on the stickers (left, right, and back) and headed to the staging area for the intermediate group. From the upstairs viewing area, you get a killer overlook of the entire track. Pro tip: Watch out for the police cruiser patrolling!
First laps were a blast with my buddy Jake (you might remember his car from past videos). He piloted a fully kitted Model 3 Performance from Unplugged Performance—think upgraded wheels, suspension, brakes, and lines. We swapped between it and my Model Y Performance to compare the thrills.
No Track Mode needed here; we dialed in Insane mode with Sport suspension and even toggled "Slippery Surface" for traction. Hilariously, Full Self-Driving (FSD) works on the track—talk about unintended features!
The real hero moment? A car veered off into a pond. Any gas car would've been sidelined, but the Tesla? Unplugged Performance's tech team had it cleaned up and back out for the next session. Electric resilience at its finest!
As the sessions heated up (literally), we heard constant calls over the radio: "Tesla Corsa B driver, immediate call to GR." Brakes and tires were working overtime—"Heat! Heat!"—but that's track life. Watching these beasts carve corners with instant torque is unreal.
Pushing the limits in intermediate group.
This isn't racing; it's skill-building in a controlled space. Instructors, tech support, and a welcoming community make it accessible. Whether you're a newbie or pushing advanced runs, your Tesla shines here.
If you haven't experienced this, sign up for the next Tesla Corsa event. Battery life, regen braking, and AWD grip make EVs track stars.
Stay tuned for more laps and comparisons—drop a comment: Model Y or Model 3 for track duty?
Drive safe, charge full, and see you on the track! 🚀
