Tesla's Future SUV Lineup: Model Y L, Cyber SUV Wishlist, and Elon's Teases
Hey everyone, DennisCW here! In my latest video, I dove deep into Tesla's SUV lineup—what's currently available, what's potentially on the horizon, and my ultimate wishlist. With the Model X essentially phased out (Signature Series sold out!), there's a massive gap in Tesla's offerings for families needing more space. Let's break it down.
The Current State: Model X Gone, Model Y Stepping Up
Tesla has pretty much killed off the Model X. The $160k Signature Series for both Model S and X sold out faster than expected. That leaves a big hole in the SUV segment.
Enter the Model Y, which is dominating sales. Right now, you can snag one with 0% financing in the US. Pro tip: Use a Tesla referral code (check the description in my video) to get 0% plus 3 months of Full Self-Driving thrown in.
We also know about the Model Y Long Range (Model Y L), already available in Asian markets and expanding globally. There have been mysterious sightings of similar-sized vehicles in the US, and Elon Musk has teased production starting late this year. This could fill some needs, but is it a true third-row SUV? Not quite—it doesn't compete with the big boys in the broader market.
The Missing Piece: A True Third-Row SUV
Families want SUVs with legitimate third-row seating, like a Tahoe-sized beast. Tesla is missing out on this segment. Enter the wishlist:
- Cyber SUV: Imagine a Cybertruck-inspired SUV with 7-8 seats, tons of legroom, 400+ miles of range, and 10-80% charge in 25 minutes. Stock it with basics like turn signals, wipers, and high beams.
- Tesla evangelists are dreaming big, and renders of Cybertruck-like vans or SUVs look epic.
Elon responded to a fan asking for a minivan: "Something way cooler than a minivan is coming." Is it a rugged Cyber SUV or something more traditional like the Rivian R1S? Either way, it could be game-changing.
Rumors and Spottings
- Camouflaged Model Y L in China: Spotted with aggressive wheels—could this be a Performance or Plaid version? AI renders make it look sleek and ready to replace the Model X Plaid.
- Deliveries for the Model S/X Signature Series kick off May 12th at Fremont. This marks the end of an era for these flagships, with Plaid models seeing rising values in 2026.
If you're looking to sell your Tesla, check out services like Plug—they offer top dollar (thousands more than others), instant offers in 15 minutes, and same-day cash in areas like LA.
Must-Have Tesla Accessories
New Tesla? It comes with zero accessories—not even a phone mount! My recommendations from partner Joa:
- Phone mount (no more flying phones during acceleration)
- Center console organizer
- Underscreen storage for sunglasses
- Wireless game controller, portable air compressor, and even an electric scooter
