Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you've been following my channel, you know I get this question all the time: "Will Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer come back in the future?" It's a hot topic, especially with the deadline passing on March 31st. My short answer? I don't think it's coming back—but with Tesla, you never know. Let me break it down for you.
Tesla has a track record of bringing back deals when sales need a boost. Remember all those incentives over the past couple of years? They've done it before without fanfare. Check out this post from Hallmars that sums it up perfectly:
"I wouldn't be so quick to declare Full Self-Driving transfer dead after March 31st. They never said transfer was dead permanently, but people are assuming it will be based on the end of full self-driving purchases. Remember, transfer was originally a one-time sales incentive."
Compared to upgrading Hardware 3 (HW3) to Hardware 4 (HW4), letting customers buy a new car is way easier and better for business. No surprise if they revive it as a sales push.
Here's the context: Tons of older Tesla models are stuck on HW3, like:
These owners bought FSD outright and are entitled to unsupervised FSD when it rolls out. But upgrading HW3? That's going to be insanely expensive. We're talking potential needs like:
Instead, FSD transfer was a win-win:
It might pop up during peak sales periods, like end-of-Q4 pushes. Tesla changes things on a dime—you know how they operate! The more FSD owners we have, the better. We're the best marketers:
"Dang, guys, FSD is actually really good. I use it 100% of the time!"
That word-of-mouth sells more cars than any ad.
What do you think? Drop your thoughts in the comments below. Are you banking on a transfer for your HW3 Tesla? Let's discuss!
While we wait on Tesla news, pimp out your ride! My go-to is Joah accessories—center consoles, and my absolute favorite: their phone mount. I use it every time I'm on FSD. Supervised or not, it's a game-changer.
