California has launched the Zero Emissions Assurance Project (ZAP), funded with $10 million, to make EV ownership worry-free. This is exclusive to California residents, but it's a big deal if you qualify.

What Does It Cover?

• Up to $7,500 toward repair costs for your electric vehicle, including Tesla battery replacements.
• If repairs exceed $7,500 and you choose to surrender your vehicle to ZAP instead, you could get a vehicle purchase grant up to $10,000 for a newer EV.

Tesla battery replacements can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $15,000, so this directly tackles one of the biggest fears for EV buyers: those sky-high repair bills.
