Hey everyone, DennisCW here! Rivian just hit us with some killer deals right at the start of May. If you've been eyeing an R1T or R1S, now's the time to pay attention. They've slashed lease payments across the board, making these premium EVs more accessible than ever.
This move feels strategic, especially with the R2 on the horizon. We speculated a few days ago that R1 pricing at $899 positioned the R2 around $799, but now with R1s at $799, the R2 could slot in perfectly underneath.
Word on the street (shoutout to Car Sly for the spot-on intel) is the R2 Launch Edition might lease for $699/month on a 3-year/30,000-mile term before upgrades. That makes total sense:
Not the steal of the century (I'd love $499–$599), but solid for a high-demand compact SUV. Production ramp-up will be key, and Rivian plans to reward loyal owners first – if you have an R1 on order or already own one, you'll jump the queue ahead of newbies like me.
Tesla? Crickets on deals so far. Meanwhile:
Rivian's aggressiveness is paying off, especially as inventory builds.
Speaking of Tesla owners – your new ride comes with zero accessories. No phone mount? Chaos during acceleration. No center console organizer? Say goodbye to lost items.
