Rivian R2 Production Officially Underway – Customer Deliveries Incoming!

Exciting times for Rivian fans! We've just gotten confirmation that the first Rivian R2 customer vehicles have rolled off the production line at Rivian's Normal, Illinois plant. It's April (4/20 or 4/22, take your pick), right on schedule, and deliveries are expected later this spring. If you're like me and have been eagerly awaiting this adventure vehicle, buckle up – it's happening!

I had the chance to see the R2 in person and even sit inside. Let me tell you, it's impressive. With its sleek design, premium interior, and adventure-ready capabilities, the R2 is shaping up to be a serious contender against the Tesla Model Y and a slew of other EVs on the market.

Sneak Peek at the Production Line

Rivian shared some fantastic photos and updates, giving us a glimpse of these beauties fresh off the line:

• Stunning ambient lighting: One shot shows a vibrant orange glow throughout the interior. It might be in service mode for now, but imagine customizing those colors to your liking!
• White R2 in action: There's even a quick video of a white model rolling out – production is real!

These early units are likely headed to employee-customers first, but customer configuration invites are slated for June 2026 (as noted on actual orders). Full customer deliveries? Just around the corner this spring.
