Hey everyone, DennisCW here! If you're into electric vehicles like I am, you've probably heard the latest bombshell from Lucid Motors. The CEO has replaced the company's entire software leadership team following the notoriously buggy launch of the Lucid Gravity SUV. This is huge news in the EV world, and it's got me thinking about what it means for the future of these vehicles.
Lucid's Gravity is shaping up to be a beast – a true full-size family EV that rivals the Cadillac Escalade IQ in terms of space and comfort. I actually got behind the wheel of one, and let me tell you:
But here's the catch: the software. It glitched out on me just fiddling with the UI. And I'm not alone – owners and testers have been complaining left and right about bugs post-launch.
Lucid's CEO addressed it head-on:
"We're working through this. We will be over the hump by the end of January. Latest latest end of March."
Firing the whole software leadership team? Bold move. It's a clear signal that Lucid is serious about fixing this ASAP.
This reminds me of Rivian. Their hardware is solid, but the software? Still needs work. I drove Rivians too, but their driving feel just isn't for me. Right now, I'm holding off on a Gravity or Rivian until the software catches up. No one wants a glitchy experience in a $100K+ vehicle!
The CEO dropped another gem: EVs are being marketed wrong. Too much "eco-warrior" talk about saving the planet, not enough focus on what buyers really care about:
I couldn't agree more. Early EVs were all about going green, but today's buyers want better cars – faster, roomier, and smarter. Selling EVs this way could flip the script on adoption.
The Gravity has massive potential. If they nail the software by Q1, it could be a game-changer. Keep an eye on it – links below to check out reviews and specs.
Pro Tip for Tesla Owners (or Soon-to-Be): If you're grabbing a Tesla, don't sleep on all-weather floor mats. My go-to is 3W – lifetime warranty, perfect fitment. Use promo code Dennis35 for 35% off. Link in the description!
