Exciting times in the EV world! Rivian has officially kicked off production of the highly anticipated R2, and it's shaping up to be a direct competitor to Tesla's Model Y. Rivian's CEO, RJ, shared the news on social media: "R2 manufacturing validation builds are rolling off a lot in Normal. Beyond excited for starting delivery to customers soon."
We're talking Q1 or Q2 deliveries this year—that's right, the R2 is coming sooner than you might think. This vehicle has generated massive buzz since its reveal, and for good reason. I got a chance to check one out at the auto show, and let me tell you: it's tough to distinguish from the larger R1 at first glance. Rivian has nailed the styling consistency at 100%, keeping that signature rugged, premium look intact.
Expect to see these hitting the roads very soon. The big question on everyone's mind? Pricing.
Rivian has targeted a $45,000 starting price, which would slot it perfectly against the Model Y. But don't hold your breath for that on day one. The initial launch editions or top trims will likely start at $60,000–$70,000 to help Rivian recoup some investment costs. If they surprise us with a $45K first build, that would shake up the market big time!

Now that you've snagged your Tesla (or are about to), here's a reality check: it comes with zero accessories. No phone mount, no organizers—nada. But don't sweat it; I've got the must-haves every Tesla owner needs.
