Hey everyone, DennisCW here. If you're as big an EV enthusiast as I am, you've probably heard the latest buzz—or should I say, the bad news—in the electric vehicle world. Another promising EV has been cancelled, and this one hits a little close to home. Volvo is pulling the plug on the EX30 in the US market just a year after its launch. I was really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of this one, so consider this my personal wake-up call to test drive it ASAP before it's gone for good!
Let me tell you why this stings. The EX30 is the perfect size for zipping around town or handling family errands. It has that sleek, modern Volvo/Polestar vibe that I absolutely love in their electric lineup. Key specs that had me excited:
It's got the looks, the performance, and the price to take on heavyweights like the Tesla Model Y. So, what's going wrong?
Volvo announced the EX30 (and EX30 Cross Country) will be discontinued after the 2026 model year. Dealers have until March 20, 2026, to place orders. On the brighter side, Volvo's bigger SUVs are sticking around:
It seems like Volvo is doubling down on larger vehicles, but ditching the compact segment. Is it the $40K price point not holding up against the Model Y? Or just the brutal competition as more EVs flood the market?
This isn't isolated. Yesterday, we covered the Honda Prologue getting the axe too. But hey, Honda's slashing prices by over $20,000 to clear inventory. We all love our Teslas, but a deal like that? It could make for an awesome second vehicle. Worth checking out if you're in the market—do your homework on range, charging, and real-world value.
As more EVs launch, we're seeing a shakeout. Some shine, others fade fast. It's a buyer's market right now, so snag those discounts while they last. What do you think about the EX30's exit? Bummed like me, or ready to jump on a fire-sale Prologue?
